About Me

I am an award-winning whisky writer, author, independent bottler, consultant, musician, and Keeper of the Quaich. 

For my work, I was awarded the 2021 Alan Lodge Young International Drinks Writer of the Year, and was named in the shortlist for the 2025 and 2022 IWSC Spirits Communicator of the Year as well as the 2022 Fortnum and Mason Drinks Writer of the Year awards.

As a whisky writer, I have been widely published across industry magazines and websites. I am a senior contributor for Forbes.com writing about spirits, and have published three drinks books with Harper Collins imprint Cider Mill Press. My latest book, The World of Whisky, was launched in June 2025. 

As a musician, I am the co-founder the co-founder of The Rhythm and Booze Project, a duo fusing live music and whisky through gigs, tasting events, and multimedia. Projects include performances at the Edinburgh Fringe of the band's own show Two Guys, Three Drams which combins live blues with whisky tasting, and building the world's first bass drum made from an entire Scotch whisky cask with a barrel of Lagavulin. I am also the co-founder of Rhythm and Booze Records, an award-winning hybrid indie spirits bottler and record label.

Recently, I have become deeply concerned about the prevalence of misinformation about Scotch whisky cask investment perpetrated by firms that are looking to lure unsuspecting investors into high-risk schemes. As a result, I co-founded consumer protection website ProtectYourCask.com and have been regularly interviewed about the problem by both mainstream and trade press.
